To captain the AFRL Masters side is a great honour and is given to a player both committed on and off the field who is either serving or a veteran of the Royal Navy, British Army or Royal Air Force. You only get to Captain the AFRL Masters team once. Either one game played on a specific day or games over a festival period.
Chris Thomas has been selected as captain for the up coming games on the 25th of May 2024 at the Cardiff Arms Park.
Previous captains have so far come from the Army and the Royal Navy with Idris Evans being a former Royal Marine. John Evans and Carl Rawes captained one Remembrance game. Ryan Roberts, Julian McTavish and Idris Evans captained two games over a festival of games.
Aside from playing and leadership responsibilities the captains job is to choose players of the match as well as present fines for consideration at after events. The will often liaise with the AFARL captain as well as opposition team captains.
